I unpacked pc2000.zip (downloaded from www.y2000fix.com) and extracted two files: y2000.exe (DOS) and y2000w.exe (Windows).
My computer is a Pentium 133 with 64Mb RAM and a 1.3 gig hard disk. BIOS is Award 4.50G
After running y2000w.exe, the computer rebooted about three times. The whole test took about 5 minutes. When I saw my Windows95 screen again, I double-clicked on y2000w.exe and the results that appeared were as follows:
TEST ONE: Date rollover while system active.. RTC :- 01/01/1900 00:00:02 FAIL BIOS :- 01/01/1900 00:00:02 FAIL System:- 01/01/2000 00:00:02 Pass Real Time Clock (RTC) will fail rollover if PC ON BIOS will fail rollover if PC ON Also see test FOUR for same tests with PC off! What this tells me is I simply have to make sure my PC is turned off on New Year's eve. What bothers me, however, is the presence of 00/00/2000 in the logged results (see Test Four).
Anyway, since my PC mainly does wordprocessing, I'm not that worried. Besides, if I do decide to use the computer on New Year's eve, I can easily adjust the date to the year 2000 come January.
These results differ from the test I performed using McAfee.
If you share with me your results, I will post them here (if you wish). If you do write me, I have one request: No free e-mail addresses (i.e., Yahoo, Bigfoot, Cyberdude, Hotmail, June, Rocketmail, etc.), ok? Don't worry, I won't sell your address or spam you.
