Aliens have decided to conquer earth, and hope resides in the hands (and legs) of mega-pervert Ataru Moroboshi of Tomobiki High School. He must play a game of "tag" with the alien leader's daughter Lum before time runs out. No one told him that she could fly, but he manages to catch her through some trickery of his own. She then mistakes his victory cry for a marriage proposal, which she promptly accepts - to Ataru's horror.

Living with an alien in the closet isn't all that bad. It's just that sometimes her friends come over for a visit, and it turns the once peaceful town upside-down, like when biker-babe Benten or ice queen Oyuki drop by. Her flame-breathing cousin Jeriten is always around, and so is the vengeful Ran and Rei the tiger-cow. But none can match Lum's intense jealousy whenever "Darling" Ataru goes out on his regular girl hunts. Too bad no one told him that she can emit volts upon volts of electricity from her body - especially when angry.
