The first series follows the adventures of Son Gokou and his search for the elusive Dragon Balls. Whoever gathers all seven of them will be entitled to a wish; and the Dragon Balls will be scattered all over again for the next collector. During Gokou's journey he encounters other characters both hindering and helping him in his quest.
In DragonBall Z Son Gokou returns as a much older man, who in the course of the series has children of his own: Son Gohan and Son Goten. As Saiyans, they and a number of other characters are able to alter their appearance and increase their power level, in order to battle the numerous threats to their planet. The highlight of this anime are the humor in the first series and the fight scenes in the second.
